ALL THINGS WORK FOR GOOD
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. (KJV)
This verse has helped me trust God through experiences that seemed utterly pointless and painful for the last two weeks. My Grandma was ailing and we all thought she was going to leave us. The results from the hospital had shown that there is nothing wrong with her. But she really complained of pain in her body and came to a point when we rushed her to the hospital as early as 2am. This are the moments when you fall at the feet of Jesus.
These are times when we spend most of our time with our loved ones because to some it might be the last moments with them. When they leave us we tend to curse God for taking them away. We believe that death is the result of sin or a curse. (Remember it is only God who gives and who takes away life). We start telling God of all the sacrifices we have offered to Him, all the prayers we have prayed and also how long we have obeyed His word. But God has no needs.
Acts 17:25 He [is not] served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breathe and all things
James 5:16 The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective (NIV)
When we pray we always believe that the answer is Yes. Even as her health deteriorates, we still pray harder. Our desires [may not] be inline with Gods will. But one thing i have learnt is to let go and let God😔 .When we say (all things) we mean the good and bad. In such a situation, i have learnt to pray and ask God to give me strength to accept what His will would be.
Some of us go into depression after loss, some of us even think of taking our own lives. If you proclaim that you love God, then you have to trust Him. We have to let His will be done because its the best. Praying for strength doesn’t mean you won’t cry or even mourn. You will but God will give you strength to overcome it.
As i wind up, i would like to say that the promise that all things work for good is not true for everyone. The Bible tells us “All things work together for the good of those that (love God) and are (called according to his purpose)“. You have to love God and also to be called according to His purpose.
